Compact mode is the main path this extension is designed around. It keeps only the newest visible messages on screen, reduces in-page pressure from older content, and lets you reveal history only when needed.

Honest note
Very large media-heavy chats may still be partly limited by ChatGPT itself or by browser rendering. The extension reduces pressure where it can, but it does not control every part of the page lifecycle.
Quick help
If a chat is still slow
- Reload the tab with the extension enabled.
- Use Compact mode and keep the newest visible count modest.
- Avoid leaving very large media-heavy chats fully expanded longer than needed.
If settings seem not to apply
- Save again from the extension popup.
- Refresh the ChatGPT tab.
- Confirm you are on
chatgpt.comorchat.openai.com.
